25TH MAY - PROTESTS GO ON AS PER THE PLAN

  • As declared earlier, the junior doctors of all the medical colleges and even some non-teaching hospitals of the state started the cease work. There was hardly any junior doctor in the out patient departments and the wards. However the Emergency, Labour Room, Ad-day and On-call services were excluded from the span of this cease work. The visiting faculty, medical officers and the residents tried their best to make up the deficiency of the juniors.
  • Students and junior doctors of Burdwan Medical College took out a protest rally through the streets of Burdwan. The rally started at 5:30 pm from the BMC campus. The protesters were joined by students of Burdwan Raj College, Burdwan University and the other colleges of the town. Apart from them, representatives from Calcutta Medical College, R.G.Kar Medical College, Calcutta National Medical College and colleges of other districts such as Bankura and Midnapore were present in the rally. After around one and half hours the rally reached the Curzon Gate where the protesters blocked the Grand Trunk Road for about an hour. An effigy of the HRD minister was burnt there. The protesters then marched back to the BMC campus were they dispersed before promising to make the Kolkata rally on 27th a grand success.
  • Students and junior doctors of Bankura Sammilani Medical College today enacted some road-dramas on reservation in an attempt to add some unique colours to the protest.
